Our AGM is an opportunity to mix and mingle with fellow cyclists, learn about hot topics related to safer cycling and infrastructure, and find out what Citizens for Safe Cycling (CfsC) has been up to over the past year as well as upcoming plans.
This year, we’ll be focusing on the theme of data: how we can collect and use it to promote safer infrastructure for cyclists.
When: Monday, September 26th | Doors open at 5:30pm, speakers start at 6:30pm
Where: Tom Brown Arena, 141 Bayview Road (near Bayview station)
Who: Everyone is welcome, no need to be a member. Come meet us and see what we’re all about.
The AGM is open to all– but we hope you will consider becoming a member or renewing your membership!
The event is free but please register if you plan to attend so we can plan refreshments and seating accordingly.
Here’s what we have planned for this year…
5:30pm: Doors open and social begins
Join us any time 5:30pm or later for a social before we kick off the program. Free coffee courtesy of Ministry of Coffee and a complimentary light meal will be available, and we’ve invited some of our nonprofit partners to attend and chat about their work. We’re also expecting a number of area politicians to join us.
6:30pm: Speakers
Gord Johns, MP for Courtenay—Alberni will open with remarks on the need for a national cycling strategy, followed by a few words from some local councillors. We’ll then be passing mic to this year’s keynote speaker, Fraser McLaughlin of EcoCounter. He’ll share Montreal’s experience using data to plan better cycling routes in the city, with potential lessons for Ottawa.
Finally, the CfSC Board will share an update on its recent and upcoming activities, including our advocacy work and member engagement.
8:30: CfSC Official Business (Members only)
Following a short break, members are invited to reconvene to address official business.
We hope to see you on the 26th!
Don’t forget, while you can always renew your membership or join in person at the AGM, you can skip the line-up by signing up online in advance.
Invite your friends and co-workers, too – Here’s a poster you can print
