You’re cycling through an intersection or crossing a street on a green light, and yet you don’t feel safe. You can never guarantee you won’t get hit by a driver turning right on a red light. You know they’ll look for an opening in motorized traffic, completely overlooking you.
Yet City staff advises against a blanket right-turn-on-red ban (RTOR) citing… safety concerns (!!!) among other things. What??? Check Ecology Ottawa’s great FAQ debunking misconceptions on the issue and sign the petition to ban RTOR. Ask your councillor to support the ban. And consider delegating at PWIC next week to oppose staff’s recommendation.
Together, let’s push the City to undo the wrongs of the past.
