We are celebrating our 30th anniversary and we invite you to join us. Our Annual Meeting is one of the biggest bike socials in town. With so many members with so much knowledge and experience, we decided that in this special year our members should be the stars.
Therefore, we asked four members to talk about cycling in Ottawa, from its place in the bigger picture such as in Ottawa’s Downtown EcoDistrict to our cycling platform for the upcoming elections.
We will also update you with all the work our volunteers have been doing this year, and have been doing year after year after year, from the membership survey, the Ottawa Report on Bicycling to the new well received website.
The speakers
We’ll start with Don Grant, who runs the Ottawa Centre Eco District, followed by Heather Shearer, who will discuss the vision behind our bicycle platform for the municipal elections. This is followed by Alex DeVries, who will share with us the CfSC adventures of the past year and Simone Rivers, who coordinated our 2014 membership survey.
Food and song
Before we take a break, the Ottawa Just Voices Choir will sing a couple of bike related songs and lead us into a ‘happy birthday’ signalong. For this occasion, we’ll serve not only wraps, but also specially baked desserts by Branch out Bakery. Coffee is provided by Bridgehead and the wraps are made by Krackers Katering.
At around 8:30 we’ll start the offical AGM (usually the boring part). We’ll elect new board members and we’ll get an update on the finances (spoiler alert, they are in great shape).
