Looking back, looking forward at 150: Spring will be here before you know it, and as has become tradition we look forward to ringing it in with our Spring.Bike.Ottawa symposium and social.
Tapping into Canada’s 150th celebrations, we’ll be treating this year’s event as an opportunity look back at Ottawa’s cycling past and forward to the opportunities we have to keep moving our capital towards a bike-friendlier future.

When: Saturday, March 25th | 1:00pm-4:00pm
Where: McNabb Community Centre (180 Percy Street)
What: Our annual Spring.Bike.Ottawa symposium and social!
The event is free and you don’t need to bring your tickets, but please register so we know how many people to expect (and because space is limited). Read on for additional information on the agenda…
What’s on the agenda?
Doors open at 1pm. As always, we’ll make sure there’s plenty of time during the afternoon to mix and mingle with other #ottbike-ers, check out some vintage bikes and photos, and enjoy snacks and beverages. EnviroCentre, BikeMaps.org, the Ottawa Public Library’s Biblio-Bike program, and Retro Rides will have booths set up and be looking to chat. We also look forward to introducing our 2017 Annual Report on Bicycling in Ottawa at the event.
Speakers start at 1:25 pm, and will include the following throughout the afternoon:
- Opening remarks from MPP Yasir Naqvi
- A presentation on what Strava Data tells us (so far) by our Board member Alex deVries
- A presentation by city staff on cycling and Ottawa city signals
- Councillor Catherine McKenney with a mid-term update on the Ottawa Cycling Plan
- A report on the 2017 Winter Cycling Congress by our former CfSC president Hans Moor
- BikeMaps.org will be telling us about their incident tracking app, and will have some great giveaways
- Thoughts on bike tourism in Ottawa in 2017 by Maria Rasouli of Escape Bicycle Tours
- Updates from Safer Roads Ottawa by Rob Wilkinson, featuring some recent bike safety videos produced with CfSC
