Join us for "Tulips on Two Wheels" on May 21st

tulipstwowheels

This year our Tulips on Two Wheels event will take place on Saturday, May 21st from 11am-2pm. Find CfSC volunteers in the same location as last year: along the canal at Queen Elizabeth Drive and Fifth Avenue, beside the Canal Ritz Restaurant.

Two mechanics from Cycle Salvation will be onsite with us offering free bike tune-ups, and volunteers can provide CfSC membership information, free maps, and t-shirts for sale. It's a great opportunity to get out and see the tulips, meet fellow cyclists including CfSC board members and volunteers, and make sure your bike is in good condition for the summer.

Interested in helping out? We are looking for approximately 5-8 enthusiastic volunteers to assist with the event, including set-up and tear-down. Please email Felicity Borgal (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) for more information.

We hope to see you there!

When: Saturday, May 21st | 11am to 2pm

Where: Near Queen Elizabeth Drive and Fifth Ave, beside the Rideau Canal

Streetfight: On April 27 Janette Sadik-Kahn talks urban revolution

Here is a 3 minute clip of the bike tour that BikeOttawa organised for Janette Sadik-Khan. As we only had an hour, we couldn't venture out too far, so we stuck to a loop around the Ottawa river downtown. We showed some new bike infrastructure and we discussed some issues that have not been solved.

CfSC is proud to be joining forces with Ecology Ottawa and a number of other partners to present an evening with Janette Sadik-Kahn, former Transportation Commissioner of New York City and author of Streetfight: Handbook for an Urban Revolution.

Based on her experience leading innovative urban design projects in NYC, Sadik-Kahn will share tips for making Ottawa's streets safer and more livable.

When: April 27th, reception at 6pm (with cash bar and books for sale), presentation runs from 7-8:30pm, book signing until 9pm.

Where: Aberdeen Pavilion, Lansdowne Park, 450 Queen Elizabeth Dr, Ottawa, ON K1S 5J3.

RSVP: Tickets are free but you must register using the form on this page. You'll also have the option to share on Facebook that you're going, as a way to tell your friends about this interesting event.

CfSC will have a booth at the event-- come say hello to us! We look forward to seeing you there.

This year, to avoid stealing the Easter bunny's thunder we kicked off spring a week later than usual on April 2nd, the second Saturday of the season. Our Spring.Bike.Ottawa event was more popular than ever with 100+ community members out to hear from an impressive line-up of speakers, watch a Canadian premiere video screening, and mingle with fellow cyclists from around the city.

Today, April 2, Citizens for Safe Cycling proudly released its annual Report on Bicycling. The report is the only document in Ottawa that gives an overview of progress in cycling in Ottawa.

On April 2, we are getting together again for our increasingly popular Spring.Bike.Ottawa afternoon, which has grown into Ottawa's premier bike advocacy event. The event focuses on local cycling updates in Ottawa, and we have hosted many speakers over the last five years, from Pathway Patrol to Safer Roads Ottawa and from the Ottawa Bicycle Club to a presentation about wayfinding.
